Holistic Healing Ministries

Holistic Healing Ministries (HHM) began when the Holy Spirit spoke to the heart of Veikko Võsu, pastor of Nõmme Baptist Church. The message was that it is necessary to start praying for people who are no longer given hope by the medical system. The vision waited for its time, until in the fall of the same year, the Nõmme congregation was encouraged to move forward with the matter. Right from the beginning, it was clear that the task was too big for one congregation and many other congregations from different denominations had to be involved.

We started by seeking God’s will and organized the first service in January 2021. Vaido Palmik became the leader of the service. So far we have received a lot of feedback that God is using this initiative to restore and heal many lives. We believe that this service will grow into a movement that will shake the entire Estonian people, in which many congregations serve together. As a result, the name of Jesus will be lifted up, people will experience miracles and a touch of God that will completely transform their lives.

The name of the ministry suggests that a person needs to be healed completely – the body, soul, and spirit must be renewed. Although physical healing is important in this world, being born again and being filled with the Holy Spirit is more important from perspective of eternity. The abundant feedback confirms that the Holy Spirit is touching and restoring the lives of many people through this ministry.

How the healing service is structured? During the service, we get to hear a couple of stories where people share their experiences of God’s miracles in their lives. Through testimonies, we want to encourage all listeners to trust in God. An important role in the ministry is to glorify God through music. We have seen how breakthroughs often take place when God is praised. In general, the service is carried out as the Spirit of God leads. At the end of the service, the intercessory prayer teams minister to all the people who need intercessory prayer.

On the spot, we distribute prayer towels that we pray over and that people can take with them. We encourage congregations that watch the service live in their church building to do the same locally. Testimonies in this regard have brought glory to God and people have been truly helped.

It is also possible to leave your secret prayer wishes at the service by sending them in advance by e-mail or by writing them on paper and leaving them in the prayer box. These prayer requests are not recited publicly, but are placed closed in a suitable container and prayed for on the spot. After asking for secret prayer requests, the slips of paper go straight into the fire – no one reads them.

We invite congregations and members of congregations to join the ministry of the Holistic Healing Ministry. Some congregations have decided to gather in their church building during the broadcast of the service, where they can listen and watch testimonies together and hold a prayer service. It is also a great opportunity for small rural churches to invite those in need. Two or three local intercessors, a television, a computer and an Internet connection are enough for participation. Pastors have the opportunity to invite HHM to their congregation. For this purpose, you should contact us and agree on a suitable time.

Who are the Christians?

The Christians are ordinary people whom you can meet and interact with at work, at school, on the street, in a store, at an amusement park or in other places. Contrary to common prejudices, when you get to know Christians more closely, you will find that they are actually exceptionally nice, caring and cool people.

Christians are distinguished from others by the fact that they have made a deep and very important decision in their hearts – they have accepted God’s call, through which rebirth has taken place (John 3:1-21). They have asked forgiveness from God through Jesus Christ for their sin and decided to follow Him. Christians do not thereby become saints, but they do become holy (dedicated to God). When a person confesses his mistakes to God regardless of what they have been, asks God for forgiveness from his heart, repents (i.e. turns from doing evil), and accepts Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in faith, he starts from a “clean slate” through spiritual rebirth. As the result person’s identity and nature will change.

There are people who think that it is unjust that God does not take into account the amount of a person’s sins and he can be freed from his guilt simply by believing in Jesus. Actually, it is a matter of God’s grace for us. We should remember that God is the Judge against Whom we have erred. It is His decision to determine the right punishment for our deeds. Moreover, God in Jesus Christ took our place for the punishment of sins and died for us by paying the full price our evil deeds.

Jesus, as the Son of God, sacrificed himself for us as a completely sinless man, and through him we can once again have a relationship with God, our Father. Sin and guilt are a dividing wall from the holy God, the Source of Life. By sinning, a person’s heart becomes hard against God and other people. The Bible says that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son for us, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. GOD is true love and as Christians we believe that through JESUS CHRIST our connection with God has been restored. In summary, Christians are forgiven sinners who have been born again through Jesus Christ.

Christians seek God’s will in their lives. As Christians, we have experienced God answering our prayers in a supernatural way as we have seen miracles happen: difficult situations being resolved, sick people being healed, evil spirits leaving people, lives changing, etc. Having experienced such great grace, which we have in no way earned ourselves, we want to share the good news with others. It would be selfish to just keep it for yourself. If you need help or answers to your questions, feel free to contact us!

What is prayer?

Prayer is a way of communicating with our heavenly Father. Prayer is based on relationship or relationship building, not ritual. Just as you open your mouth to talk to a friend, you can also communicate with God.

Jesus taught us to pray: “Our Father, who art in heaven.” God is a person. He is our loving Father, and through Jesus Christ we have the privilege of coming before Him and tell Him “Abba” that means in Aramaic “Daddy” or “Dear Father.” Prayer is our personal communication method to God.

God is not just ‘our Father’ but He is also ‘our Father in heaven’. He has heavenly power. When we pray, we are talking to the Creator of the universe, who through his Son, Jesus Christ, has given us the ONLY possible access to Him. Jesus says, “Whatever you ask the Father, he will give it to you in my name.” (John 15:16). We do not have the right to come to God by ourselves, but we can do it through Jesus and in his name. That is why it is customary to end the prayer with the words “in the name of Jesus”. This is not just a formula, but we acknowledge the fact that we can only come to God through Jesus. Jesus’ death on the cross removed the barrier between us and God created by our sin.

When we pray, we are talking to a God who is both transcendent and immanent—beyond and inclusive. He is far greater and more powerful than the universe He created, and yet He is with us through His Holy Spirit when we pray.

Prayer is a vital act. There are many reasons to pray. Above all, it is a way to communicate with the heavenly Father. Sometimes people say, “God knows our needs, why do we have to ask?”. In fact, there is no relationship if we do not communicate. Of course, asking for something is not the only way to communicate with God. There are other prayers: thanksgiving, praise, glorification, confession, listening, etc. But asking is an important part of it. When we ask God for something and see answers to our prayers, our relationship with him deepens. In prayer, we receive revelatory knowledge—great and secret things that man cannot know in any other way.

There are reasons why we don’t always get what we ask for. For instance, unconfessed sin creates a barrier between us and God. God has made no promises to answer the prayer of one who does not live in fellowship with him. God is merciful, and he may answer the prayer of an unbelieving person, but we have no reason to count on it. When people say, “I feel like my prayers are not reaching God. He doesn’t hear, there’s probably no one there…”, then one should be asked if he/she has accepted God’s forgiveness through Christ’s death on the cross. Before we can expect God to hear us and answer our prayers, the barrier of sin must be removed. Sometimes prayer is not “answered” because what we are asking is not for our benefit. God has promised to give us “only good gifts” (Matthew 7:11). He loves us and knows what is best for us. A good father does not always give his children what they ask for. If a five-year-old boy wants to play with a sharp knife, hopefully a good father won’t let him.

God always answers our prayers! The answers to our prayers are either “yes”, “no”, sometimes “wait”, and sometimes God places us in a process where he brings forth solutions that we are not expecting, but which are better than we can imagine.

How to pray?

There is no specific way to pray. Prayer is an integral part of our communion with God, and thus we are free to speak to him as we wish. God doesn’t want us to rattle off meaningless phrases – he wants to hear what’s in our hearts. At the same time, many people find it easier if they have a certain pattern or scheme of prayer.

Jesus has left us an example of a prayer called the “Our Father” or “The Lord’s Prayer” (Matthew 6:9-13):

Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.

The New Testament exhorts us to pray unceasingly (a state where you are ready to listen and speak). We don’t need to be in a certain building to pray. We can pray on a train, bus, car, cycling or walking down the road, lying in bed, at midnight – wherever we are and whenever we are. Just as important as praying alone is praying with others. It can take place in a small group of two or three members. Jesus said, “Truly, again, I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 18:19).

Prayer cloths

In the Bible, Mark 16:17-18 says: “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

Jesus has sent us out to perform supernatural signs in His name. “The sick, on whom they shall lay their hands, shall recover.” We don’t always manage to meet people physically in person. Prayer cloths are an extension of our hand here. As we lay our hands on the towel(s), we pray that the recipient of the towel may be healed, in the name of Jesus Christ.

In Acts 19:11-12 we read the following: “And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.”

A prayer cloth is not a magical item. It is a simple towel/napkin that can be washed, folded, etc. The specialty of the prayer towel lies in faith – the faith with which one has prayed for the sick and the faith with which it has been accepted. After using the towel, the towel does not need a “new charge”, so to speak. It can be safely reused. Contact your local church for a prayer cloth. If necessary, bring the towel/napkin to the church and have it blessed. If you are a Christian yourself, you can also put your hands on the towel together with a couple of fellow Christians, pray and send the prayer towel to the sick person.

Body, soul and spirit

As humans, we have not only a physical body, but also a soul and spirit. We are like three-layered onions – the body is the top layer, the soul as the mind, emotions and wills in the middle, and the spirit as the breath of God’s life in the deepest part of us. Body, soul and spirit are in a symbiotic relationship. When the body suffers, so does the soul and spirit. When the soul suffers, the body and mind are often affected. When the spirit suffers, the vitality also disappears from our body and soul. In the same way, they influence each other when everything is good.

It is therefore important that we take care of all three. We must take care of our body, which is given to us as a gift to use in this life. When we are in good health, our soul and spirit are automatically healthier as well. We can pamper the soul with hobbies, dreams, good tastes, entertainment, etc. However, the spirit needs food from the spiritual world, and caring for the spirit is often not emphasized at all.

The human spirit is who we are eternally. The only way to feed your spirit is through prayer and communication with God, reading and studying the Scriptures, being filled with the Holy Spirit and seeking guidance, following the example of Jesus. In other words, we feed our spirit with the domestic dining table, so to speak, from where it originally originates – from God.

It is dangerous to feed your spirit with spiritual food that does not come from God. The Bible calls that type of spiritual food idolatry and strictly warns against it – communication with the spirit world, new age, Buddhism, Hinduism, various earth religions, astrology and horoscopes, energetic pearls and stones, esotericism, card readings and readings, commuting, yoga, etc. Why is it a dangerous food table? Throughout human history God has sternly warned people against tying themselves to such things for several reasons.

Firstly, by touching the boundaries of the spirit world on our own, without God, we transgress his warning and do ourselves wrong.

Secondly, the spirit world is real and supernatural, but people’s knowledge in this regard is minimal and self-defense skills are almost non-existent. By engaging in the aforementioned practices, we open a “door” to the spiritual world inside us, through which all kinds of things can affect us – evil spirits, diseases, bitterness, unforgiveness, suicidal thoughts, etc.

Thirdly, we can unwittingly relinquish control over our thoughts, emotions, and body. We fall into a vicious circle, so to speak, where one thing leads to another. It is almost impossible to regain control. The only help in that case comes from the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the King of Kings and the Creator, the owner of all authority, both spiritual and earthly.

The good news is that God is all powerful and through Jesus Christ we can be free and clean. Our part is only to ask, ask and seek Him. As Christians, we have seen bodies healed supernaturally, we have witnessed how sad souls become happy again and broken spirits come alive again.

At the Holistic Healing Service, we focus on the fact that a person can be healed inside and remain healthy in body, soul and spirit! All this in the power of God.

Repairing relationship with God

Let’s take look back to the Garden of Eden for a moment. God created the world and all plants and animals, land, water and sky. And it was good! And He also created man, giving him the great gift of being a good master over all creation, while in perfect relationship with God himself. And it was good! Man in the form of Adam and Eve lived in all perfection. In paradise. Man had everything in abundance, and most importantly, he was close to God and in close relationship with him.

Nevertheless, man believed Satan’s lie about becoming like God, and when he ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden, he made the decision to transgress the only commandment given by God. That led man into territory of sin and curse. God and the Garden of Eden were holy, but cursed and holy do not belong together. Therefore Adam and Eve created a rift between all men and God.

We are all infected with the virus of sin and each of us is faced with the same choice every day – to seek God’s will or to follow our own path. Unfortunately, we often decide in favor of the latter. So we cannot say that Adam and Eve are to blame for the suffering of all mankind, but each of us must also look in the mirror. Each of us has made those decisions ourselves, which have driven a wedge between man and God on a personal level. We have decided to turn our backs on God and consider to follow our own ways in life.

Can you imagine someone with whom you have had a very good relationship turns their back on you and figuratively spits in your face, saying that they no longer need you or your love. This is exactly how we have behaved towards our Heavenly Father. What is hard to grasp in this story is that even though we have gone astray against God, He is willing to take us back to Himself. Since the black and the cursed cannot be with the pure and the holy, He offered us a solution so that we could be with Him again. The solution is the greatest sacrifice and the most loving act in the history of mankind – God himself was born into this world through Jesus Christ (the trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit), lived a blameless life and sacrificed himself on the cross when he was innocently murdered for our sins. The wages of sin is death, or eternal separation from God. However, Jesus became the glue between God and people, being holy and sinless, yet dying for the sins (evil) of people.

At the same time, Jesus’ death on the cross is not an automatic solution for humanity, which will take us all to heaven and reunite us with God. Just as in the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve had a free choice, whether they want to continue the good life in perfection or to transgress the command set by God, so we are also given a free choice. It is our choice whether we want to live our lives here on earth as a probationary period and in heaven permanently with God or without Him. It is our choice whether or not we want to accept the immeasurably great gift that Jesus Christ made for us when he died on the cross.

If you realize that you are wrong and would like to fix your relationship with God and want to live with God from now on, you have this opportunity today. Pray to God, repent of your sins and receive a new life from Him. Here is a prayer written for you, which will help you in making your decision before God, and which you can ask from a sincere heart before God: “Dear God, I come before You in the name of Your Son Jesus. Please forgive me my sin (all my evil deeds) and come live in my heart. Jesus, cleanse me with your precious blood. I turn away from everything I know to be evil. I ask You, be my Savior and Lord. Please write my name in the book of life. Please fill me with your love, peace, joy and Holy Spirit. Thank you for changing my life and giving me hope and a future. I thank you that according to Your Word I am now born into Your family my Lord and I am called a child of God. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen!”

If you have made the best decision of your life, it is important that you are not alone! Feed your spirit daily by praying and reading the Bible and we recommend starting with the New Testament. However be sure to find other Christians next to you who can support you on this new exciting journey! None of us can survive alone, but by supporting each other we are strong.
